Australian Venture Summit 2024

Australian Venture Summit 2024

Overview

Established as one of the largest knowledge sharing and networking events for the leaders of Australia's innovation ecosystem, you will have the opportunity to broaden your network and connect with entrepreneurs, investors, fund managers and corporate advisors.

Each year, the Summit (formerly known as the Venture Capital Industry Forum) explores the latest developments in venture investing and the industries of the future, and inspires with great case studies from portfolio companies. This year is no exception, with a great agenda lined up.

In an ever-changing geopolitical landscape, private capital investment into Australia’s sovereign capabilities is becoming critically important to our nation. At this year’s Australian Venture Summit, join Hayley Channer, the Director of Economic Security at the United States Studies Centre, in conversation with Brett Hill, CEO of Praetorian Aeronautics, Prof. Emily Hilder, Head at Advanced Strategic Capabilities Accelerator and Martin Duursma, Partner at Main Sequence, as they discuss investment opportunities in defence and explore how Australian companies are leading the way in developing technology that will help us protect critical infrastructure, people and military assets from loitering munitions, Kamikaze Drones and other threats.

This year’s program also features a discussion between Tom Humphrey, Partner at Blackbird Ventures, Lucy Tan, Investment Principal at Square Peg Capital and Misha Cajic, CEO and Co-Founder of Avarni talking all things GenAI.

Martin Randall, Head of Private Markets at LGT Crestone and Lucinda Hankin, Head of Ventures at Grok will unpack Family Office strategies driving investments into VC.

Niki Scevak, Co-Founder of Blackbird Ventures will share insights from his journey around building Blackbird Ventures into one of Australia’s most successful VC funds and then contribute to a panel with Rajeev Gupta, Managing Partner at Alium Capital to explore strategies around liquidity events.

Navleen Prasad, CEO of the Australian Investment Council will be joined by Harriet Dwyer, Head of Impact at AirTree Ventures, Carl Prins, CEO at Pathzero and Caroline Thalund, CEO & Founder of Sustainability 360 as they share insights from the Council’s ESG VC Benchmarking Report and consider the state of ESG in the Australian VC industry.

Also featured on the program will be Chris Gillings from Five V Capital/Cut Through Ventures, Karen Chan of Perennial Private Investments looking at the future of Australian Startups and Nick Gainsley from OneVentures discuss leveraging Venture Debt for growth.

With a broad cross-section of the venture community in attendance, AVS 2024 is also a great way to catch up with industry colleagues, entrepreneurs, investors and advisers.

The full program will be disclosed soon. Secure your place today.
