Private Capital Yearbook 2023

The Annual Preqin and Australian Investment Council Yearbook 2023 is a comprehensive overview of Australia’s private capital market produced in partnership with the Council’s official Yearbook data partner, Preqin.

Aggregate capital raised in the year to 30 June 2022 (FY22) by private equity and venture capital funds more than doubled and quadrupled compared to fundraising in the previous year. This, and other findings, were published in the 2023 Yearbook, highlighting that in FY22, private equity funds raised $9 billion and venture capital raised $2.7 billion.

Private equity, venture capital and private credit now account for more than 50 per cent ($61.7) of $118 billion of AUM, outweighing private capital allocated to Australian infrastructure, natural resources and real estate combined ($56.6 billion).
