The Australian Investment Council Government and Regulatory Affairs Update - September 2018

Highlights:

The Australian Investment Council is continuing to work closely with the LP community to respond to the complexity of
ASIC’s proposed fee disclosure regime.

  • In response to proposed changes to the definition of Significant Global Entity, which could
    have tax implications for PE funds, AIC's submission to Treasury advocated for the
    exclusion of PE funds and other investment entities.
  • AIC represented the industry at the Impediments to Business Investment Parliamentary
    Inquiry in Sydney.
  • AIC joined with other groups to successfully argue for membership bodies to be exempted
    from the new Foreign Influence Transparency legislation.
